The fire of Revolution spreads in England, Ireland, France, and Haiti. In 1812 Mal Grant faces America's worse traitor.

"Mal Grant had been in the City of Brotherly Love for a week and had already won three fights."

Can Alex Grant, a freed slave and war hero, help make the newly-won American Mid-West free? And keep his scalp?

"'The new land will become at least four states,' Washington said ...'We will need the votes of these states to eventually abolish slavery.'"

From the Scots' Highlands at Culloden, to 1776 America, Johnny Grant is up to his kilt in Revolution.

"When he flung open the door, he was met by two men in kilts in full battle dress... Something was spinning away and he knew it was his youth."

As the West plunges into the Dark Ages, a woman warrior holds firm against a violent tide.

"We cannot marry," Hugh said, throwing his hand axe so carelessly at the straw target that it overshot the mark."

Roman armies and cities crumble and a soldier fights to protect his home.

"She had long black hair and a white face and seemed to be looking straight into my eyes...By all the Gods I wish I had never seen her."

English guerrillas oppose Saxon invaders and rally around a Welsh King called Arthur.

"I did not see the Saxons attack my home and, thus, missed the sword stroke that killed my grandmother."
